Customer Exit EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 triggered twice

Hello,

We are using the exit EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 to set defaults to a mandatory variable.

1. When I use the BEx Query with parameter VARIABLE_SCREEN = 'X', the variable screen shows up with the default value from the exit code. This is correct and desired.

2. When I click OK on the variable screen, the EXIT is triggered again with I_STEP = 1 and presents the variable screen once more to the user.

3. The user needs to click OK once more for him to be presented with the report output.

Is there some reason why the exit is triggered twice with I_STEP = 1 ? This is only when executed via Portal (BI Java), in RSRT it works perfectly as exepcted.

I also noticed that second time,  I_T_VAR_RANGE is filled up with the values from the previous step. Even if i change the values on the screen, the second call has the default values. Very strange.

PS - Note that if i dont use VARIABLE_SCREEN = 'X', the report output is shown directly as the mandatory variable already has a value from the exit. This is also correct behaviour.

Regards,

Parag.
