Hi,
Wanted help with understanding the Scheduled Invoice Requests (with respect to Contracts).
As I understand, I can create my own Invoice Schedule within a Contract. However, I am not so clear about how to set it up correctly.
I want to have a contract which is valid from 1st of January 2016 to 31st Dec 2016 (renewed every year). This is the easy part, I figured out how to do it.
However, I want to invoice the customer in following way => Invoice should be created and delivered to customer "before" 1st of January, lets say 1st of December 2015(for the first invoice), 1st of December 2016(for second) and so on and so forth.
Questions here:
1. Can my Invoice time frame be different from my Contract's start/end date? I assume No. Because even if within my "Edit Invoicing Time Frame" I set start date as 1st of November 2015 and then set 1st day of November for an annual invoicing, system sets 1st Nov 2016 as the first invoice date(falling within the active dates as per the contract).
2. I tried to be little smart with the system and then manually set the invoice date in Invoice Schedule as 15/11/2015. My understanding was that the automatic invoice schedule run will create an invoice request for this within 3 day horizon period. However, I noticed that the night's invoice schedule run did not create an invoice request for this contract. Possible reason I see is that the contract's Validity = Not started (since contract's start date is 1st of Jan 2016). Is my understanding right or was it because I manually edited the date? Also, is there any place where I can see this enigmatic "Automatic Scheduled Invoice Run"? If I am not wrong, this is different from the "Invoice Runs" present in Customer Invoicing(since Invoice Runs create Invoices while the other run creates Invoice Requests out of Invoice Schedules)?
Do you guys see how such pre-invoicing for contracts can work? I know of couple of other ways =>
a) BC Fine Tuning - Time Horizon for Scheduled Invoice Requests Run. I am not sure if this is designed to work with Contracts. Because it had no impact during testing(maybe I missed something).
b) Invoice Runs - this also did not work. As per my understanding, because it needs Invoice Requests to be there to start with.
Will appreciate any clues.
